Developed by the Center for Curriculum Innovation
(CCI)
The LHS Center for Curriculum Innovation (CCI)creates
instructional materials in mathematics and science for preschool
through 12th graders for use by students, teachers and other educators,
parents and families. Experienced teams of
LHS educators contribute to research, theory, and the creation
of high standards for science and mathematics learning. The Center
also builds and maintains professional networks to
provide ongoing support and education in the use of these innovative
materials and methods. CCI materials and products are also actively
used as tools to promote innovation through the LHS Center for School Change.
Increased emphasis on accountability and high academic achievement have led
to the development of national and state standards in many disciplines, including
mathematics and science. Programs of the LHS Center for Curriculum Innovation
can provide strong support to states, districts, schools, and teachers as they
seek to meet and exceed these standards.
Famed for their ability to actively involve all students and teachers, LHS
instructional materials are challenging and rigorous—research-based and classroom
tested for educational effectiveness. Units
and courses developed by LHS convey pivotal concepts and help students
develop essential abilities and can be used as strong support to the educational
goals of the National
Science Education Standards, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
(NCTM) Standards as well as state frameworks and district guidelines.
Family
and parent programs, as well as multimedia
and web interactives, maintain the same high standards of excellence.
Well-established programs such as:
