Great Explorations in Math and Science (GEMS) After school Staff Development Workshop
GEMS recently announced a partnership with Developmental Studies Center (DSC), to develop and market a series of after school science products called AfterSchool KidzScience. The first kit of the series includes four units related to Physical Science: Exploring Oobleck, Falling and Flying, Magnets, and Bubbles. These are to be published by DSC in the summer of 2009. Two other kits in the series, Environmental Science and Forensic Science, are in development. Each kit in the series will include 4 units with 4 sessions per unit.
GEMS will lead a two-day implementation workshop at LHS in 2010 introducing the new KidzScience Physical Science Kit. Workshop participants will experience a number of activities from the Physical Science units, as well as an overview of all the activities in the 3-kit series. This workshop will be designed for After school program leaders and front-line staff from school districts, community-based organizations, and public science centers.
