K–6 Equipment Kits

Complete kits. Active-learning science requires materials. FOSS includes those materials in sturdy front-opening drawer-and-sleeve cabinets. Inside you will find high-quality materials packaged for a class of 32 students. Consumable materials are supplied for two uses before replenishment is necessary. The kit contains just about everything needed to conduct the module, with the notable exception of living organisms and food. The teacher may be asked to supply small quantities of common classroom items like tape, marking pens, or scissors, but otherwise the kits are very complete.

The Measurement Module serves two functions in the FOSS program. In addition to being an instructional kit, the tools from the Measurement kit support many of the grade 3–6 modules. If you are teaching a 3–6 module, it is important for you to have access to a Measurement kit. For schools and districts that want every kit to stand alone without reliance on a Measurement kit, Delta Education provides options for satisfying these requests. In addition every item used in FOSS is available as a line item.

Refill kits. Economical refill kits are available for each module. The refill packages replace the consumable items used up during the investigations. Each refill kit contains enough replacement materials for two complete class uses of the module.

Measurement Tool Kits. Most of the modules in grades 3–6 require additional equipment from the Measurement Module. For your convenience, these materials are offered separately in specific Measurement Tool Kits. Each kit includes class quantities of the measuring materials needed for the respective module’s investigations.

Live organisms. Live organisms are required, but not included, for some of the modules. The organisms can be purchased from Delta separately via coupon cards. Please allow up to four weeks' processing time for redemption of these cards.
