Job Description:
The FOSS Project at the Lawrence Hall of Science develops, disseminates, and implements active learning, inquiry science programs for all students and teachers, grades K-8. FOSS is in use in every state in the country with over 100,000 teachers and 2 million students. FOSS is on 20 state adoption lists and has been recently adopted in California where it will be one of the elementary programs used by schools over the next 7 years. We work closely with our FOSS publisher partner, with other curriculum projects at LHS as well as other departments in our university, and we collaborate with national research organizations involved in research to improve the teaching and learning of science in grades K-8.This position will provide analytical and administrative duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the FOSS program consisting of over 20 academic and staff positions.
Responsibilities:
Work with co-directors to: Plan and develop procedures; manage and administer business contracts and federal grants, including proposal submission; and prepare monthly summary reports.Work with co-directors to: Plan and develop procedures; manage and administer business contracts and federal grants, including proposal submission; and prepare monthly summary reports.
Supervision and Coordination: Supervise FOSS AA II; coordinate FOSS unit activities with other Centers at LHS, including the Center for Research, Evaluation and Assessment; the Center for Resource Management; and the Center for Technology Innovation, including business contracts and customer support issues.
Academic and Staff Personnel: Coordinate hiring of research personnel with the project co-director, including preparing necessary documentation. Oversee purchase and delivery of supplies, equipment, and services.
Plan and coordinate logistics for national institutes, workshops, and national field trips.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent skills in Word and Excel, database and information management systems, e-mail, and web browser programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team and interact effectively with a diverse group of staff, customers, educational visitors, and educational publishers.
- Demonstrated expertise in budgeting and financial management, managing multiple, complex accounts, financial analysis, reporting and planning.
- Demonstrated experience in using automated financial systems for financial tracking reporting, and analysis.
- Ability to work effectively and prioritize project activities.
- Ability to run queries and reports through BAIRS.
Preferred Skills:
- Some supervisory experience
- Knowledge of running queries or reports with BAIRS
- Knowledge of Indesign and Photoshop preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of UCB grants and contracts policies and business procedures, preferred.
- Knowledge of K-12 educational systems .
Salary Range:
Annual: $38,000 - $46,000First Review Date:
