The naturally dramatic setting of LHS will be enhanced with light displays, performance artists, the world music of Zebbler Encanti Experience, and fine wine and cuisine from around the world. Dinner will take place on the spacious LHS plaza. During the evening, LHS will honor Dr. Alan Friedman, former Director and CEO of the New York Hall of Science (1984-2006), and the Discovery Channel/Science Channel, with its Excellence in Science Awards. These awards acknowledge an individual and an organization who have made deep and lasting commitments to science education. A live auction to benefit the Hall’s educational programs will follow the awards. Master of Ceremonies for the evening is Brian Hackney, an Emmy award-winning science and environmental reporter and correspondent for KPIX-TV CBS 5’s “Eye On The Bay.” A local treasure with a global impact Known locally as a “must visit” destination for families and school children, and for its popular after-school classes and summer camps, LHS has a worldwide reputation as well. For forty years, it has nurtured a global network of educators in the development and testing of instructional materials, and in the training of teachers to use those materials in classrooms throughout the United States and around the world.
